Two suspects, a male and a female, are wanted in connection to a verbal security threat made at the Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers Airport. The Jackson Municipal Airport Authority said the threat was made Monday at 11:30 a.m. and forced a four-hour evacuation of a terminal, bringing flights to a standstill.Access to the airport was shut down as federal agents, sheriff’s department bomb dogs and local police searched the airport property. Officials said nothing was found.Federal Security Director for the TSA Kim Jackson said the individuals approached three TSA agents and told them there was a bomb in the airport. Jackson said the two people left the scene immediately after.”We are going through the security footage to determine these individuals, what they look like and everything,” said Jackson. JMAA’s Director of Communication LSherie Dean said this incident was reported immediately to the United States Transportation Security Administration, which took the step of evacuating passengers and employees at JAN out of an abundance of caution. Several law enforcement agencies assisted in the airport evacuation.According to Flight Aware, 12 flights in total were delayed and four were canceled because of the bomb scare. Airport authorities said they are working with passengers who were impacted to get them where they need to go.
