An 87-year-old woman has died following a crash on Route 7 near Pike Creek on Friday afternoon, Delaware State Police reported. A 20-year-old man and a 65-year-old man were both injured and taken to the hospital.
State police said a 20-year-old man from Wilmington was driving south in the left lane of Route 7 in a 2012 Nissan Rogue at 12:39 p.m. At the same time, a 65-year-old man and his 87-year-old passenger were heading north on Route 7 in a 2013 Toyota Corolla.
The Corolla made a U-turn at Route 7 and Arundel Road, putting the car directly in the path of the Rogue. The 20-year-old driver attempted to brake, according to police, but the front left of his car hit the front right of the Corolla.

The impact sent both cars spinning in opposite directions, state police said, and the Corolla hit the left side of the Rogue a second time. The Rogue eventually stopped spinning south of the intersection, facing north, police said. The Corolla ended up facing south in the right lane.
The drivers and passenger were taken to Christiana Hospital, where the 87-year-old woman later died. The 20-year-old was treated and released, police said, and the 65-year-old did not have life-threatening injuries. The woman has not yet been identified.
Both cars had green lights at the time of the crash, according to state troopers, and neither was speeding. Route 7 was closed for three hours while police cleared the road.
