A fatal crash that closed the southbound lanes of Route 1 closed north of Dover for five hours on Thursday has been cleared and the road re-opened, Delaware State Police said Thursday afternoon.
Police said the crash occurred a little after 8 a.m. Route 1 was closed in the area of Scarborough Road as a result.
Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes of travel to avoid delays, said Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell, a police spokesperson.
Route 1 was closed from the 104 exit (Scarborough Road) to the Dover toll plaza. T Route 13 ramp to Route 1 was also closed at Scarborough Road.
