RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond soul food restaurant Southern Kitchen is making an exciting move to Stony Point Fashion Park in the city’s Southside.
According to spokesperson for Stony Point, Southern Kitchen will be joining the diverse dining options at Stony Point Fashion Park, offering a unique and authentic Southern style cuisine.
Southern Kitchen is a local, woman-owned business that has been around since 2019. The founder, owner and chef is Shane Roberts-Thomas, who first opened the restaurant in Richmond’s Jackson Ward neighborhood.
The food at Southern Kitchen is inspired by traditional recipes that were passed down by the Roberts-Thomas family, according to Stony Point spokesperson. The restaurant most famous for its southern-style egg rolls, shrimp and grits, blackened catfish and other delicious soul food favorites.
“Southern Kitchen is a celebration of Southern hospitality, and we look forward to
welcoming the community to experience my family’s recipes and heartfelt hospitality that
make southern dining truly special,” said Roberts-Thomas regarding the upcoming move.
The restaurant gained even more popularity from the community and local media outlets after being featured on celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s show “24 Hours to Hell and Back”, according to Stony Point’s spokesperson.
In addition, Roberts-Thomas also had the opportunity to show off her unique Southern culinary skills on Food Network’s show “Chopped,” where she highlighted her capacity to create standout dishes under pressure.
