Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority launches homeownership program

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) has launched a homeownership program intended to assist public housing residents become homeowners.

A spokesperson for the agency said the Come Home Initiative expands the agency’s current choice voucher homeownership program to also include all public housing residents within the agency’s properties.

Applications for the program will open on Wednesday, March 6.

In addition, the agency has announced it will develop more than 20 lots in partnership with the Maggie Walker Land Trust.

The spokesperson said the agency will also “bolster land inventory by allocating properties owned by the authority, which will be sold exclusively to qualified applicants who successfully complete RRHA’s required homeownership education process.”
