Richmond man sentenced for possessing pistol with illegal rapid-fire conversion

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man was sentenced to nearly two years in prison for possessing a firearm with an illegal conversion device, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

On Friday, Feb. 2, Ke’Rell Mileak Boone was sentenced to 21 months in prison after he was arrested in the Whitcomb Court area of Richmond on May 11, 2022.

According to court documents, Boone was arrested after he was seen by Richmond Police Department detectives displaying firearms on social media.

Boone was found to be in possession of two pistols, one of the pistols’ backplates had been replated with a device which allowed for automatic rapid fire.

According to the officials, Boone had what appeared to be the original backplate for the converted pistol in his pocket when he was arrested, and had further modified the gun with an extended magazine.
