A new wheelchair-accessible playground is coming to Baltimore County thanks in large part to the Baltimore Ravens.It will be the Baltimore-area’s first NFL Play 60 initiative destination playground. The playground will have obstacle courses, climbing structures and a 17-foot-tall slide.The funding for the playground came from a $500,000 donation from the Ravens in addition to state and county funding.”It is critical that we continue to identify opportunities that positively impact the well-being of children in our communities,” Ravens President Dick Cass said. “We are honored to be involved with this meaningful project, knowing it will provide a safe and unique space for children and their families to enjoy.”Baltimore County officials and Ravens mascot Poe broke ground Friday on the playground at Northwest Regional Park in Owings Mills.The goal is to get kids outside and bring joy to families.”I think this is going to be a very highly utilized playground. So, we are excited for this and for more to come,” Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said.Construction is expected to be complete in early fall.
