Prince Edward dog shot numerous times, somehow survived

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Prince Edward County Animal Care and Control recently recovered a dog with numerous past bullet wounds.

The female dog was found in the Green Bay area of the county, according to a Facebook post from the organization made on Friday, March 1. While she had no recent wounds, the odd scar pattern on her body raised concerns in those who initially examined her.

Animal Control officers noticed multiple small lumps beneath the dog’s skin. Following a visit to the Ridge Animal Hospital, scans made it clear the dog had been shot quite a few times.

“How this sweet girl made it through being shot several times and the infection that probably followed is mind-blowing to us,” wrote the organization in the post. “She is safe and healthy considering her ordeal. A Virginia rescue has stepped up to find her a loving home and will consult with their veterinary staff for her ongoing care.”

If you know anything about what happened to this animal, contact either Prince Edward County Animal Control at 434-223-7310 or the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office at 434-392-8101.
