After taking a weeklong vacation in Rehoboth Beach last week, President Joe Biden will return Friday evening for a weekend stay.
Biden’s had a busy week traveling to Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. He hosted the Houston Astros at the White House, announced a new national monument near the Grand Canyon and attended campaign fundraisers. Now, apparently, he’s ready for some R&R at his North Shores home.
The Federal Aviation Administration flight restrictions for the Rehoboth Beach area begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday so it’s likely the president will arrive sometime later. He’ll be coming from the White House but could travel by car or helicopter.
The last time Biden came to Rehoboth, he flew to Dover Air Force Base and was driven from there. If that’s the case again this time, expect traffic to snarl on Coastal Highway. If he takes the Marine One helicopter, it will land in the Gordon’s Pond parking lot at the southern end of Cape Henlopen State Park, causing that area to close temporarily.
In the past, the president has attended Mass at St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church in Rehoboth on Saturday evenings. He often bikes on the Gordon’s Pond trail and has occasionally spent time under an umbrella on the private North Shores beach.
While on vacation last week, he and wife Jill Biden ventured out to eat at Matt’s Fish Camp in Lewes and saw “Oppenheimer” at the Movies at Midway.
