Police: JCPS student involved in ‘big fight’ brought loaded gun to school
A student at Pleasure Ridge Park High School is facing charges of bringing a loaded gun to school.According to an arrest document, Deshawn Girton, 18, was involved in a “big fight” on Tuesday.Apparently during the fight, he went looking for his backpack. Police said staff members were able to secure the backpack, and inside, they found a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson gun.Girton admitted to bringing the gun to school, police said.He’s now charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.He’s scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 5.
