RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) announced that its campus police were holding an exercise Wednesday on the university’s Monroe Park campus.

Those in the area were told to expect a heavy police presence and “realistic sounds and behaviors,” according the alert issued by VCU Police on Wednesday, Dec. 27.

An alert was later issued at 1:56 p.m. saying that the exercise had concluded.

VCU officials have stated that exercises like this one help staff, students and officers be better prepared for dangerous situations.
