The first in a year full of magical experiences lined up for 6-year-old Tabby
HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Kings Dominion’s first VIP rider of the season was welcomed aboard on Saturday, bringing 6-year-old Tabitha “Tabby” Davis one step closer to having her Make-a-Wish granted.
Tabby, a beautiful young lady currently battling cancer, asked the Make-a-Wish Foundation to grant her Wish for a year of fun at Kings Dominion in Hanover County.
What better way to get that started than rolling out the red carpet on opening day? Tabby got to be Kings Dominion’s first VIP rider for the 2024 season — and she took full advantage despite the weather.
Tabby’s mother told the media she hoped this long-awaited day would not be washed out by the rainy conditions.
“[I want the rain to] hold off, so she can hit all those rides that her height can take her to and for her to get as close to the sky as she can — because she wants to be close to God,” Tabby’s mother said.
According to her mother, Tabby is legally blind in one eye, with the other still very impaired. She said she was glad Tabby got the chance to see Kings Dominion with some vision left, as exploring the park was always her “big wish.”
“For her to be able to be here today, even if tomorrow is taken — she at least got to see it,” Tabby’s mother said.
Tabby’s mother described her as a girl with a big heart, who would offer just about anybody a shoulder to cry on.
“She lightens up a room, she never leaves someone sad,” her mother told reporters when asked to speak on Tabby’s personality, sounding very emotional. “She’s more for them than herself, so if you’re doing what I’m doing right now, she’s going to stop that and make you smile — she’ll say, ‘don’t cry, don’t be sad, be happy!’”
Tabby’s mother said her daughter has virtually unlimited access to Kings Dominion due to her granted Wish and can bring as many guests as her heart desires.
“And she’s gonna leave you with the biggest gift: that you’ll never forget her,” Tabby’s mother said.
