It’s possible that Phillies radio broadcaster Larry Andersen spends most of his off time yelling at squirrels and telling teenagers to get off his lawn.
That’s what you would think if you looked at social media after the Atlanta Braves’ 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday in Philadelphia.
With the Phillies trailing 4-0 in the 10th inning, Marcell Ozuna sent a no-doubter into the left-field stands. While rounding the bases, Ozuna committed the cardinal sin of having fun and celebrating the homer with third base coach Ron Washington. Andersen let his grumpy old-man flag fly high, criticizing Washington and saying he was unprofessional.
Of course that set social media off in a big way.
It’s unknown if the Mets’ tears or the Phillies’ tears are more satisfying, but one thing is for sure – calling Ron Washington unprofessional will not be tolerated. Larry Andersen, please take note.
