On-duty Chesterfield Police officer hit by impaired driver on Iron Bridge Road


CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield Police officer is recovering after his vehicle was reportedly hit by an impaired driver on Iron Bridge Road.

According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, the crash took place just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1 while the officer was on duty.

It was determined that the officer was heading east on Iron Bridge Road when the impaired driver ran a stop sign on Ironbridge Parkway and entered the officer’s path.

The officer and the impaired driver were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The impaired driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
