NORFOLK, Va. (WRIC) — Norfolk State University Spartans advance in the Men’s Basketball College Insider Tournament (CIT) after an 81-66 win against the Alabama A&M University Bulldogs.
On Saturday, March 23 the Norfolk Spartans went head-to-head with the Alabama Bulldogs at the Joseph Echols Hall in a Semifinal game.
Both teams’ scores were relatively close in points throughout the first half of the game, with the Bulldogs maintaining a winning lead.
However, the Spartans began scoring points back-to-back in a series of jumpers, dunks and free throws made by players Allen Betrand, Christian Ings and Jack Doumbia.
With a little over two minutes left on the clock, the Spartans had created a 16 point winning lead against the Bulldogs.
Spartans player Allen Betrand scored the most points for his team with a total of 16. Bulldogs player Lorenzo Downey scored the most points for his team with 15 points.
The Spartans will now face whoever wins the CIT game between Purdue Fort Wayne and Tarleton State, which is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 25.
