HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A new restaurant in Henrico County, Touché Pies and Fries, will celebrate its grand opening tomorrow.
On Saturday, March 23, at 2:30 p.m., Touché Pies and Fries will celebrate its grand opening. The restaurant is located at 1221 N. Laburnum Ave. in the Richmond area of Henrico County.
The hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 1 to 9 p.m. The dining room can serve up to 27 guests at a time.
8News spoke with the owner, Thomas Coleman, as he shared his excitement about the opening of the new restaurant.
Coleman said he was inspired to start Touché Pies and Fries after watching the Food Network during the pandemic and saw someone abroad making pies from scratch. He says he told himself “I could create that, I am going to have my own meat pie restaurant”.
Coleman said he let his creativity take over and began experimenting at home by creating pies with his own dough from scratch, he let a few people try his creations and they liked it.
Touché Pies and Fries will serve specialty dishes like meat pies, crab stuffed lobster, fresh pretzels, sweet potato buns and poutine fries, just to name a few. Beer, wine and champagne will be available as well.
“We really don’t have food like this in Richmond, I have to put this out there,” Coleman said.
Coleman says his poutine fries are hand-cut and served with gravy and eggs or you can get them topped with steak, chicken or seafood.
The Fresh Pretzels are made with dough from scratch with three dipping sauces available to choose from: chicken, steak and seafood.
“I wanted different dipping sauces with meat in them so I came up with that idea,” Coleman said. “I came up with the Sweet Potato Bun, it’s just like a cinnamon bun but it has sweet potato in the Bun.”
Touché Pies and Fries will also feature a “Chef’s Special of the Day” from Touché’s very own Chef Hezy.
