RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Residents are shocked after a disturbance call turned into an officer involved shooting Sunday morning in Richmond, which left a man dead.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the suspect, an unidentified man. According to the department, the man pulled out a gun and an officer shot him.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Police reportedly recovered a firearm at the scene.
Nearby neighbor, Maurice Wilson, told 8News he didn’t hear anything at the time of the shooting, but was shocked to find out what happened after.
“Hearing that, it does take me back some, but I still feel safe considering all the other experiences I’ve had here in the area,” Wilson said when he learned about the shooting in his neighborhood.
The officer involved was placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation unfolds.
