FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A 22-year-old man who was reported missing in January was found dead at Hazel Run Creek in Fredericksburg.
On Saturday, Feb. 3 at around 10:30 a.m., Fredericksburg Police received a report that a body was found in Hazel Run Creek, located at the intersection of Blue and Grey Parkway and Lafayette Boulevard.
Patrol officers, the Fredericksburg Fire Department and the Rescue Squad responded to the area with Stafford County Sherriff’s Office also providing assistance.
At around 1:50 p.m., a body was recovered from the creek and identified as 22-year-old Darius Appiah, who was reported missing by Stafford County Sherriff’s Office on Jan. 25.
According to police, Appiah’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. His next of kin was notified this afternoon.
Prior to this discovery, Appiah was last seen on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at around 2:50 p.m. on Mine Road in Spotsylvania County.
