Michael Klein told at least six people he had killed someone before he was charged with murder this week in connection with a man found dead on Baywood Greens golf course, near Long Neck, according to court documents.
The 57-year-old Millsboro man was already in jail on an unrelated offense Thursday when police obtained a warrant charging him in the death of 64-year-old Lewis Fetrow.
Fetrow was found June 7 covered in a tarp under a tree on the property of Baywood Greens golf course near Long Neck and Banks roads. He had suffered multiple stab wounds to his chest and neck, court documents say.
A few days earlier on June 4, Klein had told an unnamed acquaintance he had “killed a man in the Longneck area near a golf course” and “stabbed the victim multiple times before placing him under a tree,” according to the arrest warrant.
The acquaintance noted Klein – who, according to court documents, also goes by “Skinhead M. Klein” – had a “large pocket knife” and blood on his shorts, court records say.

Klein told the acquaintance’s mother a similar story, and later that night, Klein’s girlfriend reiterated it, according to the warrant. Still, the acquaintance didn’t believe Klein had really killed someone, court documents say.
That night, Klein got a ride to his mother’s, according to court documents. There, he was promptly arrested on a breach-of-release charge related to a previous detainment.
It was three days until the acquaintance’s “conscious got the best of him” and he went to the area Klein described, according to the warrant. There, he found the body and called 911.
After he was arrested, Klein told paramedics, correctional officers and staff he knew where a dead body was in Long Neck. On June 13, Klein told police the location of the body but didn’t admit to killing the man, according to court documents.
He told police he was hiding in some bushes and saw two Black people stab Fetrow five times, the arrest warrant states.

He told police he never got closer to the body than 15 feet, but the next day, the Division of Forensic Science reported Fetrow’s DNA was found in blood stains on Klein’s shoes, according to court documents.
On Thursday, police charged him with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony. He remains held at Sussex Correctional Institution on over $1,000,000 cash bond.
The warrant makes no mention of Klein’s motive. It lists one of his aliases as “Skinhead M. Klein.”
