A 28-year-old man from Magnolia has died after driving into a tree in Milford Friday morning, Delaware State Police reported.
His passenger, a 12-year-old girl also from Magnolia, was taken to the hospital with “serious injuries,” according to police.
The man was driving west at 5:31 a.m. on Wilkins Road in a blue 2020 Mazda 6 east of Elks Lodge Road, police said. For “unknown reasons,” the Mazda drifted into the opposite lane and then off of the road.
Police said the car continued traveling southwest and hit a traffic signpost, then drove directly into a tree.

The force sent the car spinning before it came to a stop in the road, which police reported was closed for about three hours.
State police said that neither person in the car was wearing a seatbelt, and no other injuries were reported. The 28-year-old victim has not yet been identified.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Master Cpl. K. Argo at 302-703-3264 or call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
