Man killed after deadly crash involving USPS truck in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department is investigating after a deadly crash took place on Hull Street involving a United States Postal Service (USPS) truck.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, officers were called to the 700 block of Hull Street for the report of a crash.

When officers arrived on scene, they located the driver of a vehicle that had been traveling east on Hull Street that struck a USPS truck that was traveling south on Commerce Road. The striking vehicle then left the roadway and hit a fire hydrant and came to rest on its side, according to officials.

According to police, the driver of the striking vehicle, identified as an adult male, died at the scene. A medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The police department’s Crash Team responded to the scene and determined that the striking vehicle ran a red traffic light, which resulted in the crash.
