HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A man has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a tractor trailer crash on Interstate 295 South in Henrico County.
According to the Henrico County Police Division, both officers and emergency services responded to I-295 South on Sunday, Feb. 4 just before 2 p.m. for a reported single-vehicle crash.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) identified the vehicle involved in this crash as a tractor trailer.
I-295 South was shut down temporarily to allow a man severely injured in the crash to be lifted from the scene by med flight, according to police.
The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
There are still some lane restrictions in place as crews conclude their response to this incident. Henrico County Police advise drivers to seek alternative routes.
As of 2:57 p.m., two lanes on I-295 southbound have been reopened, according to officials.
At 2:51 p.m., the north left shoulder, left lane and left center lane were closed. All south lanes were closed, according to VDOT.
According to Henrico police, drivers can expect a public safety presence from Virginia State Police as they continue to investigate the crash and tow trucks remove the semi-tractor from the woods.
