CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — A man was found shot in a car, after a crash that shut down part of Route 288 in Chesterfield Monday night.
Chesterfield Police said they were called to Route 1 near 288 just after 9 p.m. to respond to a single-car crash. When they arrived, officers found a man in the car with a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say an initial investigation indicates the people in the car were involved in some kind of fight nearby, which resulted in the victim being shot. Police did not say how many people total were in the car.
According to VDOT, all Northbound lanes near the Charter Colony Parkway overpass were closed during the investigation, and one Southbound lane was blocked off as well.
The roads have now been cleared and all lanes are open as of 10:45 p.m.
