UPDATE: According to a tweet from Metro Transit Police, the man who was struck by the train was pronounced dead at the scene. Trains are currently single-tracking between National Airport and Pentagon City.
ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Blue Line service is suspended in Pentagon City after a person was reportedly struck by a train in the metro station.
According to a tweet from the Washington Metro-area Transit Authority (WMATA) posted at 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, service at the station is currently suspended.
Blue Line trains leaving the Franconia-Springfield and Huntington stations are currently turning around at National Airport, and trains leaving the Downtown Largo and New Carrollton stations are turning around at the Pentagon. Arlington County is in the process of clearing the scene at the Pentagon City station.
15 shuttle buses are currently going from the Pentagon to Crystal City to Pentagon City with headways of 15 to 20 minutes.
