When I was about 4 years old, I got a talking to when a neighbor handed me a package of Necco Wafers for trick-or-treat and I handed them right back, saying I didn’t like them.
It was a lesson in gratitude, I suppose, or at least in not alienating a neighbor we shared a property line with, but it also cemented in my mind a more important lesson — Necco Wafers are gross. They are like Tums, only flat. Why would I want that when I could be eating a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup? I mean, c’mon.
Twice a year, life hands us the opportunity to debate the merits of our favorite and most dreaded pieces of candy.
With Easter rolling in on Sunday, it’s the perfect time to take a moment to reflect upon which side you are on in one of the most divisive topics of our time — Peeps, or no Peeps.
