Looking to spruce up your garden this year? Lewes in Bloom is hosting a free tulip dig this month.
On Friday, April 21, anyone who wants a tulip for their flowerbed at home should report to the following Lewes locations at 8 a.m. with gloves, trowels and bags in tow:
- 1812 Park
- Freeman Highway Lighthouse Garden
- Gateway Gardens
- Lewes Post Office
- Lewes Public Library
- Margaret H. Rollins Community Center
- Mary Vessels Park
- Otis Smith Park
- Stango Park
- Zwaanendael Park
Local floral sights:Unusual blue flower at Longwood Gardens is real. But it’ll ghost you very soon.
The blooms are being given away to make room for the annuals that need to be planted. Tulips are the only flowers authorized to be removed.
The event is rain or shine and will be first come, first dig. Most areas are picked over within minutes, so it may be a good idea to arrive early.
