A third person has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Laurel High School senior Corey Mumford in April, Delaware State Police announced Monday.
Police said that 21-year-old Shyheem Latham-Purnell of Laurel was found in a Salisbury, Maryland home and taken into custody by the Maryland Marshals Task Force on Monday. When he is extradited to Delaware, state police said Latham-Purnell will be charged with first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and by a person prohibited, and first-degree conspiracy.

Latham-Purnell is the last of whom police believed to be three people involved in the shooting of Mumford on April 14. Jhalir Henry, a 27-year-old from Delmar, was arrested and charged with murder on April 21, and 28-year-old Donregus Holland of Hurlock, Maryland, was arrested and charged May 18.
Mumford, a popular, college-bound basketball player, died after being shot eight times while walking with friends outside Wexford Village apartments, according to an arrest warrant.

Police have said Mumford was not the intended target.
A few hours after Mumford’s killing, a second shooting occurred on Shiloh Church Road in Laurel in which one person was injured, according to police. The warrant says that shooting may have been retaliatory.
