The Delaware Children’s Museum is a wonderful place for families with young children to explore, play and learn together.
Every visit is filled with fun, educational opportunities for children of all ages and abilities in exhibits designed to facilitate playful learning and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, math) education.
The DCM is the only children’s museum in Delaware, and families from all over the state and surrounding region are invited to visit the museum to experience educational programming and our popular, special events. These engaging events, which occur throughout the year, are guest favorites and are sure to be yours, too!
Follow the DCM on social media or check out our website at delawarechildrensmuseum.org for information on our events — as they are a wonderful way to experience the DCM again and again.

Be sure to mark your calendars as you won’t want to miss DCM’s End of Summer Bash on Friday, Sept. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. This is the last event of the museum’s summer series, and will be held both inside and outside the museum, weather permitting.
This special event will be filled with a variety of exciting scientific experiments, special guest appearances and photo opportunities that help families capture new memories and sparkling smiles.
Dress for both outside and inside water play. Enjoy one of the many outdoor sprinklers and splash stations or discover our indoor, iconic water table.

Take a turn in DCM’s “kiddie carwash” or blow bubbles with an actual bubble artist. Watch the bubble artist create spectacular bubble masterpieces. Guests will be amazed at the artistry and skill it takes to create these short-lived, bubble installations! DCM will provide all guests with a bottle of bubbles to take home to continue the bubble joy.
Create your very own exploding sidewalk chalk, craft a work of art in DCM’s Studio D, and design architectural wonders in the many construction and building zones throughout the museum. Some of the evening’s additional appearances include Pinky the Puppet and music with DJ Ed. Shoot some hoops with the Delaware Blue Coat’s outreach basketball staff outside or shoot hoops inside in the museum’s mini-basketball court area! It’s an event not to be missed!
To continue to provide events like these, the DCM needs the community’s support.

While the museum has bounced back after its building was closed for over 16 months during the pandemic, it needs your support to continue to offer events and experiences that will engage children and their caregivers and keep them returning. Please consider supporting the DCM by visiting the museum, attending a special event, booking a field trip or camp trip, purchasing a membership or gift card, shopping at the DCM’s retail store, or donating money via DCM’s website to cover inflating expenses.

The DCM needs both friends and funds to thrive, and we need YOU. Please consider getting involved by donating your time, talents, or treasures to the DCM — as all are needed.
The DCM is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesdays. It is also open on all holiday Mondays and looks forward to being open on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission is $12 per person over the age of one, and yearly family memberships begin at $119. Evening hours are every third Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m., for $2 per person, except in the month of September.

In September, the building will be closed to the public for its annual exhibit and maintenance month, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, and will reopen Wednesday, Oct. 4. The museum prioritizes building safety and exhibit maintenance daily but chooses to close to complete large-scale projects in the month of September that require proper ventilation, loud machines, large tools, lifts, etc. Guest and staff safety is always paramount at DCM, as well as is creating a fun, clean, safe, and engaging environment.

It is difficult to believe that the museum first opened its doors on April 24, 2010, and has now been open for over 13 years and served well over one million visitors. The museum strives to provide a high-quality experience with interesting exhibits for each guest during every visit. Every day at the DCM is special, so make plans to visit and make memories soon.
