Sign up for the We the Texans newsletter to receive twice-monthly updates on our year-long initiative dedicated to boosting civic engagement and chronicling how democracy is experienced in Texas.
Texas is enriched by its diversity of artists across the state. Those artists are not only using their work to create but to connect us with perspectives other than our own and make statements about their communities, our society and more.
Join The Texas Tribune in El Paso and online for an April 10 conversation, part of our “We the Texans” project looking at the state of democracy in Texas, we’ll hear from artists using various media about why they are inspired to do this work and how they see their role in driving dialogue, activism and change. Confirmed speakers include artist Camila Abbud and poet laureate Lupe Mendez.
For in-person attendees, the event will be held at the El Paso Museum of Art. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Mountain time, and the event will end at 5 p.m., allowing guests time to view the exhibits before the museum closes at 6 p.m.
