According to the Chick-fil-A website, the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken sandwich features an original Chick-fil-A filet topped with custom-made creamy pimento cheese, mild pickled jalapeños and served on a warm, toasted bun drizzled with sweet honey.
Just in case you’re wondering, the added fixings don’t make this sandwich healthier. It weighs in at 570 calories, which is the second highest total on the entrée menu, behind only the Chick-fil-A Cool Wrap.
Still, if you’re going to Chick-fil-A, chances are you’re accepting the caloric intake.
What is pimento cheese?
It’s a Southern thang.
According to allrecipies.com, pimento cheese is a popular Southern spread traditionally made with shredded Cheddar, mayonnaise and pimentos. It’s served with crackers, vegetables or as a sandwich filling. Of course, you can add such things as horseradish, hot sauce or use salad dressing instead of mayo.
“Pimento cheese is often called the ‘pâté of the south.’ ” the website said.
How does the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich taste?
If you like pimento cheese, obviously, it’s going to be great.
The spread was slathered on top of the chicken breast. If you’re not used to the look of pimento cheese, it may look funny, but it’s OK.
With your first bite, you immediately taste the spread. It overwhelms the flavor of the chicken breast in the sandwich. The jalapenos spice things up a little, but it’s hard to overcome the spread. It’s a very strong flavor.
It’s also hard to grasp the flavor of the honey when eating it. As you continue to eat the sandwich, spread remains front and center. It’s easy to understand why people make sandwiches out of it.
Overall, if you like pimento cheese spread — and many people south of the Mason-Dixon Line do — it’s wonderful. But for everyone else, it’s OK, but you’re not getting it for the chicken. It’s like wanting a burger and getting a Big Mac at McDonald’s — sure, there are two beef patties, but with everything else in there you hardly taste the meat.
There’s a new shake at Chick-fil-A?
Sure, everyone wants to talk about the new sandwich, but the Caramel Crumble Milkshake really steals the show.
The shake is made with creamy butterscotch caramel flavors, ice cream, blondie crumbles and topped with whipped cream and a cherry.
Like all shakes, it’s a treat and the nutritional numbers hold true to that fact. The shake weighs in at a whopping 690 calories — which is the highest of all shakes.
How does the the Caramel Crumble Milkshake taste?
You know those little butterscotch candies grandma used to give you? It’s like those, but way better.
The blondies in the shake have little to no trouble making it up the straw, so clogging isn’t an issue. It has a very smooth flavor to it. The cherry and whipped cream are nice, but not necessary.
