Help is desperately needed in Hawaii after devastating, fast-moving wildfires burned out of control across the Big Island and Maui.

Strong winds associated with Hurricane Dora fanned the flames, knocking out local communication and destroying hundreds of homes and historic buildings, including the popular Maui tourist destination Lahaina town.

Maui hospitals have been overwhelmed with patients suffering burns and smoke inhalation. Thousands have evacuated or been displaced and dozens have been killed. Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing, but local officials warn that the death toll could rise as more information becomes available.
