HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Hanover County School Board unanimously voted Tuesday to approve the use of portable classrooms at the overcrowded Cool Spring Elementary School.
The school board originally voted to reject the idea of portable classrooms in January, but they were brought back into consideration in February for Cool Spring, which is currently at 104% capacity.
In addition to implementing the portable classrooms, the school district has long-term plans to address overcrowding at Cool Spring, which include redistricting and moving some students to the new Washington Henry Elementary School once it opens ahead of the 2026-2027 school year.
