These July temperatures couldn’t get much hotter — and neither could the entertainment on the stages of local beach concert venues.
In Selbyville, the Freeman Arts Pavilion welcomes Australian soft-rock favorite the Little River Band at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 22, with plenty of tickets available at the door ($34 to $49).
In what may be Freeman’s most-anticipated event of the summer, it will present An Evening With Jackson Browne at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 23. It is not surprising that tickets to see the Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter sold out almost as soon as they went on sale back in March.
This booking is quite the coup; most of the other venues on Browne’s tour are double or triple the size of Freeman. While he is promoting his new album titled “Downhill From Everywhere,” he is also sure to sprinkle in melodic-rock classics such as “Running On Empty.”
In Dewey Beach, the Bottle & Cork nightclub is having quite the summer — throngs of patrons have turned out for recent concerts, and there are plenty more on the horizon. First up is country star Tyler Rich, who will take the stage Thursday, July 21 ($20).
New York alternative-rock trio X Ambassadors will play its hits such as “Unsteady” and “Renegades” at the Cork on Friday, July 22, following an opening set by HOKO ($30). Looking ahead a week, country duo Maddie & Tae will perform Friday, July 29 ($20). All of these shows begin at 8:30 p.m.
In Ocean City, the Cowboy Coast Saloon’s Throwback Thursday concert series continues July 21 with the return of country singer Colt Ford ($25). The following week will find a whole different vibe with an appearance by national hard-rock favorite Buckcherry on July 28 (also $25).
Elsewhere in Ocean City, the Seacrets complex continues its own summer concert series with the return of ska-punk quartet the Bumpin’ Uglies on Tuesday, July 26, following a 7 p.m. opening set by Higher Education. Admission is only $5 (and there is no cover charge if you have a local ID). Pasadena and Joint Operation will rock the house with a free double-bill concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3.
In downtown Rehoboth Beach, the Dogfish Head brewpub will present a free concert by Chicago-based blues pianist Neal Francis at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27. An indie-rock double bill at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 29, will pair two Canadian acts — Kiwi Jr. and Weird Nightmare.
