Grotto Pizza has tweaked and brought back an offer it stopped about two years ago — Bake at Home Pizza.
The menu item was first launched in May 2006, spokeswoman Lauren Todd said, and production was halted in late 2020.
Why did it end?
Todd said while the Bake at Home pizzas were a hit with customers, “we wanted to perfect the production process to offer the best possible quality and taste.”
Customers can once again purchase 12-inch frozen cheese pizzas at the counter of Grotto Pizza restaurants in Delaware and Maryland and cook them at home. The Bake at Home pizza, however, is not available at Pennsylvania stores.

The cost of the pizza, which, of course, includes Grotto’s well-known signature tomato sauce swirl, varies from store to store, Todd said.
For an idea of the price, a 12-inch cheese pizza at Grotto Pizza on Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilmington costs $15.99.
The pizzas can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. A thawed pizza takes up to 10 minutes to cook in a 425-degree oven, and a frozen pizza heats up in about 10 to 12 minutes.
Customers can add their own favorite toppings at home.
“There’s a lot of demand, so we hope to explore shipping in the future once we work through the logistics,” said Jeff Gosnear, vice president of Grotto Pizza.
Grotto Pizza, founded by Dominick Pulieri, his sister Mary Jean and her husband, Joseph Paglianite, has been a part of the Delaware dining scene since 1960.
There are 23 locations in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. The three Pennsylvania restaurants are run separately from the Delaware and Maryland locations.
