Gary Busey asked cops to ‘talk the women out’ of complaints

CHERRY HILL – Actor Gary Busey first denied inappropriately touching several women at a sci-fi convention here before asking officers to “talk the women out of pursuing complaints,” court documents reveal.

Busey was charged over the weekend with several sex offenses for allegedly groping women during a celeberity appearance at the Monster Mania Convention at the DoubleTree Hotel earlier this month.

A message left for Busey was not immediately returned Monday afternoon.

Busey’s confession was captured on a police body camera, according to an affidavit of probable cause report released Monday.

Busey, 78, was a featured guest at the convention and was participating in fan photoshoots. Two women told investigators he grabbed their buttocks during the photograph sessions and a third said the Malibu, California resident put his face near her breasts “and asked her where she got them before attempting to unlatch her bra strap,” a criminal complaint said.

When detectives questioned Busey, he initially denied groping the women “before asking detectives to apologize to the women then asking detectives to talk the women out of pursuing complaints,” the court documents said. Busey then tried to explain that accidental touching is possible.

Busey was charged with two counts of sexual assault, one count of attempted sexual assault and harassment. He has an initial appearance scheduled for Superior Court on Aug. 31.
