Two people were injured by gunshots in Middletown on Friday night at about the same time as traffic poured out of nearby Appoquinimink High School following a football game.
Middletown police said the two gunshot victims were located in the area of Bunker Hill Road east of Choptank Road at about 9:15 p.m.
The victims were taken to Christiana Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
One victim was loaded into a Delaware State Police helicopter, and emergency vehicles lined the streets late Friday as police investigated the shooting. No further details were released.
There was no indication whether the victims had attended the nearby game between Appoquinimink and Middletown high schools.

The Appoquinimink School District posted a notice of the shooting on its Facebook page with a message urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.
On Saturday, a spokesperson for New Castle County Vo-Tech announced that attendance was being limited at a Saturday night football game between Howard and Archmere at Abessinio Stadium in Wilmington.
“Due to recent events at various locations across the state and out of an abundance of caution, attendance for today’s Howard vs. Archmere football game will be limited,” the statement said.
Players and cheerleaders are limited to two invited guests, one of whom must be an adult.
“We regret that we are unable to include more fans, but the safety of our students, staff, and families is our primary concern.”
