A former Kansas City, Kansas, police detective accused of corruption and sexual exploitation was taken into custody Thursday morning by federal authorities.Officials with the FBI confirm former Detective Roger Golubski was taken into custody without incident at his home in Edwardsville, Kansas. Golubski faces six counts of sexual assault against two different victims.Golubski is accused of sexually assaulting the first victim multiple times between 1998 and 2001, and a second victim between 1999 and 2002. The indictment alleges Golubski’s conduct included aggravated sexual abuse and kidnapping. A criminal grand jury investigation was opened by federal prosecutors against Golubski last year. Golubski, 69, was previously accused of using his badge to terrorize Black women. He also allegedly coerced some of them into fabricating testimony to clear cases he investigated.Golubski is accused of being “a dirty cop who used the power of his badge to exploit vulnerable black women, including black women who worked as prostitutes,” according to a 2019 civil complaint filed by a man exonerated of a double murder. That man is Lamonte McIntyre. McIntyre has also filed a federal lawsuit against Golubski. Golubski handled the case against McIntyre, and the suit claims Golubski framed McIntyre for a double murder after Golubski forced McIntyre’s mother, Rose McIntyre, to perform a sexual act at the police station. The suit alleges that Lamonte McIntyre was framed after Rose McIntyre moved away, Lamonte’s arrest and subsequent conviction was retaliation from Golubski. Golubski has also been accused of witness intimidation. Kansas City, Kansas Police Chief Karl Oakman issued this statement after receiving news of Golubski’s arrest: “I was notified this morning that former KCKPD officer Roger Golubski was indicted by a federal grand jury and arrested by the FBI. This indictment is an example that no individual is above the law. The department will continue to cooperate and offer any assistance needed by the FBI as this case moves forward. The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department is committed to building community ties through transparency, integrity, engagement and safety. All inquiries involving the indictment of Roger Golubski should be directed to the FBI, Kansas City Office.”KCK Mayor Tyrone Garner released a statement:”Today’s arrest may bring comfort in the short-term but this is not the end. I stand by my commitment to support and welcome any independent outside investigations into any allegations of criminal misconduct by anyone within the Unified Government. While we never comment on ongoing investigations to protect the integrity of these efforts, I maintain my commitment to bring greater transparency and accountability to all aspects of local government, including public safety. As a former police officer and resident, I will continue to champion improvements in police-community relations to restore trust, particularly among our most vulnerable.”
