The National Weather Services has extended its flood warning in New Castle County until 2 a.m. on Friday.
Rainfall totals could reach 2½ inches Thursday evening, and thunderstorms could tip the total into flash flood conditions. Experts say any flooding will likely be worst in urban and low-lying areas.
Storms are also expected to continue sweeping the area into Thursday night. According to New Castle County Paramedics, two women were struck by lightning in New Castle County in separate incidents Thursday morning. Both were taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

Although the rain from this morning is “winding down,” the National Weather Service predicts more storms are inbound Thursday afternoon. Precipitation should taper off in Kent and Sussex counties by midnight and in New Castle County by 1 a.m.
