On the final day of the 2022 Firefly Music Festival, the party atmosphere, good vibes and high spirits remained as vibrant as the fashions — even if the threat of severe thunderstorms temporarily dampened the mood.
Musical acts scheduled to perform were only a part of the draw for many festivalgoers, as there was plenty to do to keep the party going.
Asked what they most enjoyed about the festival, of course musical performers were on everyone’s list. Big-name pop acts such as Green Day, My Chemical Romance and Avril Lavigne were named.
For Rachyl Tarr of Richmond, Virginia, it was Russian-born, German electro-house DJ Zedd, who spun records that left her feeling as if she were “losing [her] mind.”
For some attendees, real-life lately made them feel like they were just losing, but the energy and spirit of the day gave them the boost they needed.
Rodney Crooks of New Jersey said, “I came here hurt,” but after four days at the festival, he was leaving “healed” from all the love he experienced. Jumping in a moshpit for the first time also helped.
Ishu Krishna from Rehoboth described a similar experience of feeling uplifted from the vibes of the festival. Krishna said she arrived at Firefly in despair after a contractor fiasco that cost her a lot of money. She said because she found the festival a place of inclusion and acceptance, she was able to forget about her problems and put things into perspective.
She also cited the food as a big plus of Firefly.
If the price of the food bothered some festivalgoers, it didn’t stop others from listing the food as one of the top reasons they’d remember this festival experience. They said the variety of options was satisfying to almost every palate.
Eagles win also a highlight for fans
For best friends Brielle Lambs and Julia Rafferty, both 17-years-old and from New Jersey, the top moment was playing with the puppies. Other festivalgoers were more than enthused about another animal altogether.
At what may be described as an expensive watch party, Eagles fans crowded under a tent to watch the Birds on a huge screen. Every time the fan favorite scored, the whole crowd cheered wildly. Electricity in the air from the Birds win against the Washington Commanders carried fans until an announcement ordered everyone to leave The Woodlands immediately due to the threat of a thunderstorm.
Tom Lee of Philadelphia said he was “super hyped” due to the Bird’s win, but was not looking forward to returning to a muddy field and a long night because of the delay.
Fortunately, after a short light rain, the threat of storm ended and the festival started up again. Those that came back were still in the mood for good times that will turn into good memories. Can’t stop the party.
The Firefly Festival continued with numerous Sunday night acts including headliner Dua Lipa still set to play.
