A Radcliff mother is searching for answers after she found her 23-year-old daughter dead in her apartment.Police say last Wednesday, Kierra Stone-Gonzalez was found shot to death in her Newburg home. She had been dead for three days, family says, and her young child was left alone with her body.Stone-Gonzalez’ mother, Michelle Stone, was the one who found them.Since then, Stone has been scrolling through old, happy pictures of Stone-Gonzalez, because she said it’s the only way to wipe away the image stuck in her head of her daughter lying on her apartment living room floor with a gunshot wound to the head.”I have so many questions about who is the person that did this and why,” said Michelle Stone. “Why did they take my daughter?”She said she hadn’t heard from Stone-Gonzalez in days, so she made the drive from Radcliff because she had a mother’s hunch that her daughter was not OK.When she got to the apartment on Rangeland road, she found out she was right.”The door was unlocked,” said Michelle Stone. “The first thing I noticed when I opened the door was her hands were purple.”Then she said she heard the screams of Kierra’s 2-year-old daughter, who was left inside the home with her mother’s dead body. After the emotions wore off, Stone said she was left with more questions than answers. For starters, she claims authorities told her her daughter had already been dead for three days when she was found.”What I find crazy about that is, they (the killer) didn’t kill my granddaughter (Kierra’s daughter),” said Michelle Stone. “She (Kierra’s daughter) didn’t have any poop or pee stains on her or in the house. So, we knew that someone had been there the three days taking care of her, with the mama’s body right there on the floor. My question is, how can you take care of my granddaughter and not call the police, when you see that her mother was dead?”That’s the very question LMPD is now being tasked with finding the answer to, and officers said an investigation is underway. However, they won’t be the only ones searching for answers. Michelle said she will be too, even if it’s the last thing she does.”Kierra had a good heart,” said Stone. “She definitely didn’t deserve what happened to her.”
A Radcliff mother is searching for answers after she found her 23-year-old daughter dead in her apartment.
Police say last Wednesday, Kierra Stone-Gonzalez was found shot to death in her Newburg home.
She had been dead for three days, family says, and her young child was left alone with her body.
Stone-Gonzalez’ mother, Michelle Stone, was the one who found them.
Since then, Stone has been scrolling through old, happy pictures of Stone-Gonzalez, because she said it’s the only way to wipe away the image stuck in her head of her daughter lying on her apartment living room floor with a gunshot wound to the head.
“I have so many questions about who is the person that did this and why,” said Michelle Stone. “Why did they take my daughter?”
She said she hadn’t heard from Stone-Gonzalez in days, so she made the drive from Radcliff because she had a mother’s hunch that her daughter was not OK.
When she got to the apartment on Rangeland road, she found out she was right.
“The door was unlocked,” said Michelle Stone. “The first thing I noticed when I opened the door was her hands were purple.”
Then she said she heard the screams of Kierra’s 2-year-old daughter, who was left inside the home with her mother’s dead body.
After the emotions wore off, Stone said she was left with more questions than answers. For starters, she claims authorities told her her daughter had already been dead for three days when she was found.
“What I find crazy about that is, they (the killer) didn’t kill my granddaughter (Kierra’s daughter),” said Michelle Stone. “She (Kierra’s daughter) didn’t have any poop or pee stains on her or in the house. So, we knew that someone had been there the three days taking care of her, with the mama’s body right there on the floor. My question is, how can you take care of my granddaughter and not call the police, when you see that her mother was dead?”
That’s the very question LMPD is now being tasked with finding the answer to, and officers said an investigation is underway.
However, they won’t be the only ones searching for answers. Michelle said she will be too, even if it’s the last thing she does.
“Kierra had a good heart,” said Stone. “She definitely didn’t deserve what happened to her.”
