Eileen Saki, ‘M*A*S*H’ actress, dead at 79


Eileen Saki died on Monday in Los Angeles after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 79.

Saki was known for her role as Rosie, the owner of Rosie’s Bar on the iconic war comedy/drama television show “M*A*S*H.”

Her husband, producer Bob Borgen, confirmed Saki’s death to Fox News Digital.

“Eileen passed away just two months after being diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer,” he said.

“She was working up until January 2023 and shot big commercials in October and November — in fact, she got a callback for her last audition and was happy about that.”

Borgen added, “She loved her time on “M*A*S*H” and appreciated all the messages she received from “M*A*S*H” fans and former cast members during the last few weeks.”

Saki recently starred in an Uber Eats commercial and in a spot promoting “Shark Week.” (YouTube)

Saki starred on eight episodes of the show, but her witty character made a lasting impression on “M*A*S*H” fans.

“M*A*S*H” debuted in 1972 while the United States was still fighting the Vietnam War. The episodic series focused on at-times comedic antics from within a field hospital set during the earlier Korean War.

Last year, Eileen met up with a few of her former co-stars to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved series at the outdoor filming site in Malibu Creek State Park.

“We just went that day to observe, but she said as soon as we got there, she felt 100 eyes on her,” Bob recalled.

He remembered how Eileen “loved meeting all the people there, including some children of actors and directors she had worked with.”

Saki had a chance to reconnect with Jeff Maxwell, who played Private Igor and now hosts a “M*A*S*H” podcast with Ryan Patrick, and the daughter of director Charles Dubin.

In addition to her commercials with Uber Eats, “Shark Week” and Kaiser Permanente, Saki had a handful of credits, including “Splash,” “Without A Trace” and “Boys Will Be Boys.”
