A Townsend man died Monday from injuries he sustained in a March crash in the Townsend area, according to Delaware State Police.
Police said the three car collision occurred at 9:53 a.m, March 23, as 84-year-old Charles Cook of Townsend drove a Jeep Comanche north on Summit Bridge Road, approaching the intersection at Green Giant Road.
The Jeep turned left onto Green Giant into the path of an Audi Q3 traveling south on Summit Bridge Road, police said.
The Audi’s front bumper struck the right rear side of the Jeep. The impact spun the Jeep counterclockwise, causing its left rear side to hit a Chevy Silverado stopped at the intersection.
Cook was transported to a hospital, where he was admitted for critical injuries. He died on April 10 from the injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver of the Audi, a 65-year-old woman from Middletown, and the driver of the Chevy, a 41-year-old man from Townsend, were taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
This incident is still under investigation by Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Troopers are asking anyone with dashcam footage or video of the collision to contact Master Corporal J. Forester by calling 302-365-8485.
