A 36-year-old cyclist was killed and another cyclist was injured Tuesday evening in a collision in Dover, city police said.
Police did not release the name of the cyclists, both of whom were identified as men. The crash occurred about 6:45 p.m. at South DuPont Highway and Webbs Lane, according to a news release.
A preliminary investigation found that the 36-year-old cyclist died at the scene after being hit by a 2013 Toyota Camry driven by a 22-year-old man from Maryland.
Police say the 22-year-old, who failed to stop for a red light at the intersection, was traveling south on South DuPont Highway as the 36-year-old victim was falling off his bicycle for “unknown reasons” in the middle of the highway.

According to police, the driver of the Toyota tried to avoid hitting the victim but he could not stop in time. The driver then pulled to the left side of the road, where he hit the 37-year-old cyclist.
The 37-year-old man was ejected from his bike. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital, police said.
