An 18-year-old woman from Dover was killed Wednesday morning after driving into another car’s path in Dover, Delaware State Police reported. The other driver, a 42-year-old man from Camden-Wyoming, was injured.
Police said the 18-year-old woman was stopped in her tan 2004 Pontiac Vibe at the stop sign on Fox Road where it dead-ends into North Little Creek Road at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday. At the same time, the 42-year-old man was driving eastbound on North Little Creek Road a white 2019 Dodge Ram towards the intersection, where he didn’t have a stop sign.
The woman then drove out into the intersection for “unknown reasons,” according to state police, and the front of the pickup truck hit the left side of the woman’s sedan. The impact sent both cars off the road, ending up on the left shoulder of North Little Creek Road past the intersection.
Police said the man was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to the hospital, but police said his injuries are not life-threatening. The woman — whose name has not yet been released — was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The intersection was closed for about three hours, and police are still investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Master Cpl. W. Booth at 302-698-8451 or call Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
