Four transfers and two Philadelphia high school seniors, including a record-setting quarterback, signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play football at Delaware State University.
They join Delaware State’s four December signees.
The two high school signees were Neumann-Goretti quarterback Marqui Adams and Public League champion Northeast’s Geovanny Fabian, a first-team All-State defensive back as a senior.
UNLIKELY HERO: Taylor went from DSU no-name to All-American, Super Bowl star
The 6-foot, 185-pound Adams was a three-year starter who threw for 3,877 yards and 37 touchdowns in his career. He was first-team All-Catholic League as a senior when he threw for a school-record 2,111 yards.
“Adams is a dual-threat quarterback with a great deal of upside,” said DelState coach Rod Milstead. “He will have a chance to learn and grow under [starter] Jared Lewis and hopefully be ready to contribute when his time comes.”
Linebacker Charles Brown Jr., a two-way standout at Harford (Md.) Tech who did not see game action in three seasons at Eastern Michigan, is joined by three junior-college additions.
Wide receiver Halim Dixon-King had 61 career receptions for 1,168 yards and 15 touchdowns in two years at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York.
Tight end Joseph Bongono played at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California, where he caught seven passes for 86 yards and a touchdown last fall.
Offensive lineman Tavian Hobson comes from Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, Iowa, where he was a two-time first-team all-conference pick.
“Hobson is another talented junior-college guy who has a chance to step in and produce right away,” said Milstead
