Two people were killed, including a three-year-old child, after their vehicle skidded off the road Saturday night in Frankford, according to Delaware State Police.
In their investigation that closed Roxana Road for almost seven hours, police said they found that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
Police said that a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado was speeding westbound at 9:11 p.m. Saturday on Roxana Road, east of McCary Road. As the vehicle entered a left curve in the roadway, the driver failed to negotiate the curve and the vehicle’s right side left the road, according to police.
The investigation found that in an attempt to correct this, the driver swerved to re-enter the roadway where the Chevrolet then skidded across Roxana Road. The Chevrolet left the road and overturned several times until it hit a tree, the rear side of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado parked in the driveway of a home located in the 36000 block of Roxana Road, and finally an attached garage at the same residence.
