Labor Day is fast approaching, and with Hurricane Idalia doing the same, many of you are most likely wondering if your holiday plans will be impacted by inclement weather.
Despite some mid-week light rain and coastal flooding in Delaware, Hurricane Idalia will leave the state relatively unscathed, according to the National Weather Service.
With that out of the way, let’s get into the forecast for the next week, including what to expect for your holiday weekend.
New Castle County weather
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers in the morning followed by sunshine in the afternoon. Winds between five to 10 mph will be present and there is a 50% chance of rain.
The high will be in the mid-80s and the low will be in the lower 60s, accompanying mostly cloudy skies in the evening.
Thursday will see highs in the upper 70s. Mostly cloudy skies will give into partly sunny skies with winds between 10 and 15 mph.
By nightfall, the low will be in the upper 50s with mostly clear skies, and five to 10 mph winds will be present.
Friday will be sunny with a high in the upper 70s and winds between five and 10 mph. Mostly clear skies and lows in the upper 50s will ring in nightfall.
Saturday is forecast to be sunny with highs in the lower 80s. The evening will mostly be clear before transitioning to partly cloudy. The lows will hover around 60 degrees.
Sunday will be hot with highs in the upper 80s. Evening will bring mostly clear skies with lows in the mid-60s.
Monday will be a hot and sunny Labor Day, with highs in the lower 90s and lows in the upper 60s. Skies will be mostly clear.
Kent County weather
Wednesday includes scatter showers, mainly before noon, while cloudy skies gradually make way for sunshine. The high will be near 85 degrees with winds between five and 10 mph present. There is a 40% chance of precipitation.
Nightfall will bring mostly cloudy skies with a low around 63 degrees.
Thursday will be partly sunny with a high near 75 degrees and winds around 10 mph. Partly cloudy skies will be present in the evening with a low around 60 degrees and winds around five mph.
Friday will be sunny with a high near 77 degrees and winds around 10 mph. By nightfall, the low will be around 58 degrees with mostly clear skies.
Saturday is expected to be sunny with a high near 78 degrees. The temperature will drop to around 59 degrees during the evening, with mostly clear skies.
Sunday is forecast to be sunny with a high near 85 degrees. The evening will see mostly clear skies and a low around 65 degrees.
Monday will be a sunny Labor Day, with a high near 90 degrees and a low around 69 degrees against mostly clear skies.
Sussex County weather
Wednesday will see scattered showers, mainly before noon, with a 40% chance of precipitation. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 85 degrees and five to 10 mph winds in the afternoon.
Nightfall will bring a low around 64 degrees and mostly cloudy skies.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 75 degrees and winds between 10 and 15 mph. Evening will bring partly cloudy skies, a low around 62 degrees and winds between five and 10 mph.
Friday will have a high near 75 degrees with sunny skies and winds between 10 to 15 mph. Nightfall will be mostly clear with a low around 59 degrees.
Saturday will be sunny with a high near 79 degrees. By evening, skies will be mostly clear and the low will be around 59 degrees.
Sunday will see sunny skies and a high near 86 degrees. Nightfall will be mostly clear with a low around 65 degrees.
Monday welcomes a sunny Labor Day with a high near 90 degrees. Nightfall will see mostly clear skies and a low around 68 degrees.
