Top players from the state finalists swept the major awards as part of the Delaware Field Hockey Coaches Association’s All-State teams announced recently.
Junior Dru Moffett of state champion Smyrna was named the Division I Offensive Player of the Year, while junior Hannah Maney of state runner-up Cape Henlopen was named D-I Defensive Player of the Year.
Delmar, which has won all six Division II championships since field hockey was split into two divisions in 2017, earned the top D-II awards with senior Maci Bradford as Offensive Player of the Year and Josie Hollamon as Defensive Player of the Year.
Smyrna’s Loveita Moffett was named Coach of the Year. Moffett guided the Eagles to a 16-2 season and the school’s first Division I field hockey title with an overtime victory over Cape Henlopen.
Dru Moffett and Maney were joined on the Division I first team by Smyrna’s Bree Moffett and Regan Nacrelli, Cape’s Mackinzie Brown, Grace Wiggins and Morgan Newcomb, Milford’s Bailey Masten and Hannah Zimmerman, Sussex Central’s McKenna Boyle, Charter of Wilmington’s Marie Brainard, Padua’s Ava Getty and Sussex Tech’s Karli Penrod.
