The Christiana Mall will be enforcing their curfew for minors more strictly from now on, following incidents of violence in the mall.
Children aged 17 and under cannot enter the mall past 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays without being accompanied by someone over the age of 21.
Some form of a curfew policy for minors has been in place since 2008, with a previous curfew starting at 5 p.m. Brookfield Properties, which owns the Christiana Mall, relaxed the enforcement of the rule in recent years.
More:17-year-old boy charged in Christiana Mall shooting, 2 others involved still unknown
In April, a shooting in the mall’s food court left three injured. A 17-year-old boy from Newark turned himself in to the Delaware State Police following the incident.
After another shooting in 2018, the Christiana Mall reminded the public of its policy, which at the time required that anyone under the age of 18 be escorted by an adult on Fridays and Saturdays after 5 p.m.
From now on, identifications will be checked at the mall’s main entrances for minors attempting to enter the mall after 3 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
