Every pet owner is of the opinion that their pooch is the cutest, smartest and overall best dog there ever was, but is your dog listed as one of the top favorite dog breeds for Delaware?
We’re celebrating International Dog Day on Aug. 26 by highlighting the top dog breeds around the First State.
The top three favorite dog breeds for each state were ranked in a study by Casinos.com, who analyzed Google Trends data from the last 12 months to find out what each states’ favorite dog breed is out of the 48 most popular breeds, excluding crossbreeds.
In Delaware, the chow chow, bichon frisé and dalmatian are the most popular four-legged Delawareans.
The top five most searched dog breeds in the nation over the last 12 months were terriers, chow chows, poodles, Jack Russell terriers and Rottweilers.
America’s favorite dog breed, the terrier, was featured as the top favorite pup in Arizona, Illinois, Missouri, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The Labrador previously was crowned the most popular dog breed in the country but only topped the rankings in three states this year.
The most popular dog breeds for our regional neighbors include:
- The shiba inu, bichon frisé and samoyed are the top dog breeds in New Jersey.
- In Pennsylvania, terriers, Labradors and rottweilers are the coveted breeds.
- Maryland’s favorite dog breeds are the bichon frisé, poodle and terrier.
Whether your prized pup is featured on this list or not, there are plenty of ways to celebrate International Dog Day this year.
Check out some Delaware’s dog-friendly restaurants or attend local events welcoming pooches as attendees, take man’s best friend out for a walk at one of Delaware’s beautiful state parks or treat your furry best friend to doggie ice cream down at the beaches.
